Beast Taming: Starting From Zero
Chapter 581: Memories

"Mu Mu..."

Mura Monster hesitated for a moment. Hearing the question, it silently took a step back.

"You don’t want to?" Qiao Sang saw its movement and didn't even need Yabao to translate, she understood its thoughts immediately.

She had already captured Mura Monster, so she could completely ignore its wishes and just leave it here. But everything it had done earlier was clearly for the group of Scale Moths inside the house.

Without it, no one would have even realized the presence of the Scale Moths.

And according to the mission issuer's description, Mura Monster had only been making a mess outside the door, trying to cause damage inside. It hadn't actually attacked anyone.

Now that she thought about it, maybe making a mess was meant to force the mission issuer to move out, and the damage was meant to make them discover the Scale Moths.

Facing such a well-intentioned Mura Monster, Qiao Sang couldn't bear to just abandon it. After all, wild pet beasts also had their own preferred environments. If forced to stay somewhere unsuitable, their lifespans would be shorter.

"What kind of environment do you like? I can help you find one." Qiao Sang said.

"Mu Mu..."

Mura Monster finally realized that the human in front of it was seriously asking for its opinion. It hesitated for a moment before making a soft sound, could it be sent back?

"No." With Little Treasure translating, Qiao Sang refused without hesitation.

Completing the mission was the priority. If Mura Monster insisted on going back, then she could only leave it here.

"Mu Mu."

Mura Monster fell silent at first, then its expression grew firm.

It just wanted to take one last look, just one look, and then it would leave.

"Xun Xun."

Little Treasure mimicked Mura Monster's expression and tone while translating.

Qiao Sang stared at Mura Monster in silence for a moment before asking,

"Who are you going back to see?"

Mura Monster looked at the human before it but said nothing.

After a few seconds, Qiao Sang sighed helplessly.

"I understand."

The mission handover forms from the Beast Taming Center were synced to her phone, clearly listing the mission location.

After recalling Lubao into the Beast Taming Codex and leaving behind Nada Pong and his pet beast, whose face was swollen like a pig’s head, Qiao Sang followed the navigation to the mission issuer's house.

Upon arriving, she saw a large crowd gathered at the entrance.

Squeezing her way in, she saw the mission issuer arguing with two uniformed police officers.

"It’s been so long already! You still haven’t found the location! What if something happens to that child?!" Maiya shouted angrily.

That child? Are they talking about me? Qiao Sang was briefly stunned.

"Ma'am, please calm down." The black police officer said impatiently.

"We’ve already responded as quickly as possible. You didn’t provide an exact location, so finding the right spot takes time. You should know that we’re always short-staffed here."

Maiya snapped, "What good are you police for if-"

Before she could finish, Qiao Sang stepped forward, holding Yabao, and innocently asked, "Did something happen?"

Just three simple words made Maiya stop mid-rant.

She froze for a moment, then, as if realizing something, nervously glanced up at the sky. Seeing no signs of Scale Moths, she visibly relaxed.

Once the police confirmed that the black-haired girl before them was the one they were supposed to rescue, they left without delay.

The black officer hadn’t been lying earlier 10th District’s police force was truly understaffed.

With no more drama to watch, the surrounding onlookers quickly dispersed.

"You’re not hurt, are you?" Maiya asked with concern.

Swollen like a pig’s head, does that count as injured? Qiao Sang shook her head and said, "No."

"I heard Scale Moth powder is toxic and can cause allergic reactions. If left untreated for too long, it can even lead to hallucinations." Maiya said, genuinely impressed.

"I can’t believe you managed to avoid getting any powder on you, despite facing so many of them."

Qiao Sang coughed lightly.

"Actually, I did get some on me, but I have a pet beast that can heal, so it took care of it."

A pet beast with healing abilities? Maiya instinctively ruled out the ghost-type beast she couldn’t name, the little steel falcon, and another unknown pet beast. Her gaze fell on Yabao in Qiao Sang’s arms, looking utterly shocked.

As they talked, Mura Monster kept glancing longingly at a little girl who hadn’t noticed it. Eventually, it turned away and walked off with a lonely posture.

Only Gangbao noticed.

She quietly watched Mura Monster’s departing figure but said nothing.

But as Mura Monster was about to disappear around a corner, Gangbao glanced at her beast tamer. She remembered that her mission was to send Mura Monster far away.

If Mura Monster didn’t go far and ended up coming back, wouldn’t that put her in a difficult position?

"Gang Gang."

Gangbao sighed inwardly, then used her wing to pat Qiao Sang’s shoulder, giving her a reminder.

Qiao Sang turned her head, and Gangbao pointed her wing in Mura Monster’s direction.

Qiao Sang raised an eyebrow and called out, "Little Treasure."

"Xun~"

Little Treasure responded, his eyes glowing blue.

The next second, Mura Monster was teleported right back to where it had started.

"Mu Mu?"

Mura Monster looked completely confused.

Only now did Maiya remember its existence.

"This Mura Monster was probably trying to warn you that there were Scale Moths in your house." Qiao Sang said.

Maiya was stunned for a moment before realization dawned on her.

"No wonder it kept sneaking in and trying to attack the walls."

But after thinking for a moment, she asked in confusion, "But why would it do that?"

"That’s something only this Mura Monster can answer." Qiao Sang looked at Mura Monster.

Maiya and the little girl followed her gaze.

"Mu Mu..."

Mura Monster looked lost.

Suddenly, the little girl tugged on her mother’s clothes and said sweetly, "Mommy, it looks just like that pet beast from the trash bin."

At those words, Mura Monster’s body instantly stiffened.

"A pet beast from the trash bin?" Maiya asked.

"Yeah, don’t you remember? I even gave it food." The little girl explained.

"That’s impossible." Maiya laughed, shaking her head.

She still remembered that event, it had happened two years ago.

That day, it had been raining. She had picked up her daughter from kindergarten and bought corn cakes. Just after buying them, she noticed a trash bin moving on the side of the road.

Her daughter had been so scared that she hid behind her. Just as Maiya was about to leave, a very small wild pet beast crawled out from the bin.

It had a fierce expression, but it was so tiny that it wasn’t intimidating at all.

Seeing how small it was, her daughter quickly overcame her fear and even gave it a corn cake.

She remembered the moment vividly because when the pet beast saw the corn cake, its expression went completely blank. It looked unexpectedly soft and cute, nothing like a typical wild pet beast.

Maiya recalled the past and continued, "That wasn’t a Mura Monster. That was a Little Wood..."

She suddenly froze.

Little Wood Monster was the pre-evolution of Mura Monster...
