Was a wild ride and i for once cant empathize with the MC dudes a f*ck*ng n*tc*s*, i would definitely recommend reading lightning is the only way first so the ending makes more sense but its not a necessity and is only relevant for the last 3 or so chapters.

It feels like the mc is forced into being evil through honestly nonsensical plot points instead of being allowed to follow a natural trajectory for the mindset we are initially shown he has

I don't know how I feel about this book. The beginning is great and it locks you in and then you realize at the mid and late chapters it is straight depression. It's a well-written book no problems with that. I just don't think I want to read a book like this again. If you have any depressional issues I would highly recommend you go somewhere else.

Yeah this author specifically for some reason really likes to write about horrendously depressing characters. I enjoy some of the stuff he writes but for example, kill the sun, he’ll set up a character for over 300 chapters with constant personality development and enlightenment in world view than just completely ruin it by making them a manic that hates the world and make everything before seem pointless. I guess if you like depressing novels go for it but this stuff just p*ss*s me off to read

I started this years ago when you still had to wait for chapters to be released and just now came across it again to finish it. It’s a decent read with morality being a consistent theme. I enjoy published works of art by amazing authors so I try not to critique writers of this level too much. That being said I enjoyed reading this for the most part and found lacking in various areas. This novel seems to be a setting piece for a future novel so maybe we will get to see how it’ll unfold further. I would recommend this if you like an mc struggle with moral concepts and strive to attain power over anything else. Also maybe read Lightning is the Only Way before this if you want to be in the full loop. It’s not necessary but for those who like picking up little details should.

Great novel, I enjoyed reading it. The plot is very interesting, but the ending was quite surprising. I didn't expect the Lightning Emperor to die though 😔

It’s really good, peak novel. The build up and everything felt so natural, I love the mc. The author did a wonderful job. Of course it isn’t immune to its imperfections but it is one of my favorite novels I’ve ever read.

My favourite novel. I like the suffering, I love the world building, and the magic. Don't really want to yap too much. I just like the novel a lot. Between lotm, shadow slave, mother of learning, er gen's novels etc. This is the best.

Tbh not my cup of tea, the character development of Shang just seemed really bizarre, and I feel as though the ending was unsatisfying, as he was struggling with some trauma pretty much the majority of the story that being Lash, bandits Jerald etc, and instead of having him heal mentally as the story progressed they just shoved a last chapter where he gets therapy, also I dislike how at the end Greg and the others were randomly killed by Alex.

the point of the story was not to have MC heal, it was to have him suffer as much as possible and then go insane. I understand why it wouldn't be your cup of tea, but don't say the book should have had him recover his mentality, and it's garbage because he didn't. your review is too biased

I realy like the way the Author created the world with the power scaling and the concepts. There was a lot open where he could have done more, for example the rest of the affinities or the King-Emperor Warrior stage. This novel could have been like 2500-3000+ chapters is everthing would have been explored. The way tha mana was limited was more of a key point for me than the constant reminder of his mental health.

This is a novel that deals more with the MC's mental issues rather than some guy swinging a sword around. If you want some mental gymnastics for the first 200 ch then this novel is for you. It certainly wasn't for me. Interesting isekai start, very much a slog in terms of story progression when it comes to MC having a mental breakdown every so often.
If you finished the story youd know he was indeed forced to change into what he became.
